Introducing Will Maixner, new member of the NKDO board of Directors

NKDO’s Newest Board Member, William Maixner
Will Maixner, MHA, FACHE is the newest addition to the NKDO Board of Directors. By day, Will works as the Senior National Director for Transplant at DaVita Kidney Care. In this role, Will leads DaVita’s clinical transplant strategy, partnering with transplant centers and health organizations to optimize internal systems and improve the patient journey toward transplantation.
With over 15 years of healthcare leadership experience—including more than a decade specialized in transplant administration—Will brings expertise in clinical operations and strategic planning. Prior to joining DaVita, he held leadership positions at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System, serving as the Administrative Director of the Hume-Lee Transplant Center, and at the Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Will’s professional experience will provide incredible insight as NKDO works to develop new partnerships with external stakeholders and deliver meaningful programs and services to our members.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Will is dedicated to expanding the impact of organ donation. In addition to his new role on the NKDO Board of Directors, he helps lead the Meredith Haga Foundation (a nonprofit providing financial support to living donors) and serves on the Advisory Board for Project Donor (a nonprofit providing support services for prospective donors seeking to improve their health prior to kidney donation).
Will holds a Master of Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was an E.L. Derring Scholar, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). Will is deeply committed to transforming the healthcare ecosystem by breaking down organizational silos and fostering collaboration across the entire continuum of care. His focus on inter-organizational cooperation and demonstrated dedication to improving the transplant experience for patients makes him an incredible new asset to NKDO’s Board of Directors. Please join us in welcoming him!
